Minds

By John I. Blair

Minds need exercise,
Like legs and arms,
Not left to tend themselves.

Neglected day to day
In lonely skulls,
Minds waste away,

Come to harm,
Wander in darkness,
Go numb, forlorn.

Give your mind aught to do,
To ponder and to play with,
Explore like unfamiliar maps.

Be the newborn goose
That greets a new world
Every morning, seeking more.

Let life become adventure
Without end, not even
When you cross the final door.
