At the sheer skill
Of squirrels
Climbing,
Mounting
The tallest trees
With ease,
One paw at a time,
Leaping from
Bough to bough
With no regard
For gravity.
On the feeder pole
They place one leg here,
One leg there,
Clinging like a squid
While rustling
Breakfast, brunch,
And supper
Effortlessly.
It seems silly
To admire them
Just for being squirrels,
But I did.
