Surprisingly quick,
Shoved summer away
In only two days.
Leaves I thought
Were still alive
Have blown around
And littered the garden.
Hummingbirds
Made brief goodbyes
Then flew down south
To Guatemala.
And firewood bundles
I mocked last week
Are in my trunk,
Home-bound for blazes.
